The magnificent church of St John the Evangelist was designed by Thomas Archer and is the most elaborate of the many churches commissioned at the turn of the 18th century with construction lasting 14 years and completed in 1728.
THE BARFORD STONEMAN QUINTET
To entertain our St John’s audiences before both afternoon and evening concerts, the Barford Stoneman Quintet, featuring Joel Barford, Harry Greene, Miles Mandolin, Alexandra Ridout & Noah Stoneman; award winning young musicians, will play creative, inventive, stylish be-bop jazz.

Beneath the St John’s hall, under the vaulted ceilings of the crypt, is the Footstool restaurant. This is an elegant and cosy place to enjoy everything from a Sunday lunch before the afternoon concert, afternoon tea between the concerts, a buffet dinner before the evening concert and of course snacks and refreshments throughout the day and in the concert intervals.
