CLARE TEAL is one of the UK’s most celebrated and much loved jazz singers, as well as prolific deciding artists, concert hall performer and popular broadcaster.

Making her debut at St John's Smith Square, she performs an intimate selection of swinging, emotive and characterful songs accompanied by a star studded ensemble of the UK's jazz greats.

Sit back and relax with favourite sings from the likes of Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Johnny Mercer and Irving Berlin including: I Get A Kick Out of You, Manhattan, Let“s Fall In Love, I Only Have Eyes For You, I Won“t Dance, The Very Thought of You, It's Only A Paper Moon and Mack The Knife.

Clare has recorded and released 15 albums to the public and critical acclaim.  She won British Jazz Singer of the year in 2005, 2007 and 2015.

From swing to sublime ballads, Clare Teal's Mini Big Band concerts are renowned for their energetic exuberance.  With her stunning voice, encyclopaedic knowledge of jazz, swing and big band music, Clare promises a sparkling afternoon of inspired music and unbridled entertainment, performed by the very best.

ST JOHN’S

The magnificent church of St John the Evangelist was designed by Thomas Archer and is the most elaborate of the many churches commissioned at the turn of the 18th century with construction lasting 14 years and completed in 1728. 

THE BARFORD STONEMAN QUINTET

To entertain our St John’s audiences before both afternoon and evening concerts, the Barford Stoneman Quintet, featuring Joel Barford, Harry Greene, Miles Mandolin, Alexandra Ridout & Noah Stoneman; award winning young musicians, will play creative, inventive, stylish be-bop jazz. 

DINING AND REFRESHMENTS

Beneath the St John’s hall, under the vaulted ceilings of the crypt, is the Footstool restaurant. This is an elegant and cosy place to enjoy everything from a Sunday lunch before the afternoon concert, afternoon tea between the concerts, a buffet dinner before the evening concert and of course snacks and refreshments throughout the day and in the concert intervals.

St Johns Smith Square is just off Millbank between Westminster and Lambeth Bridges, close to the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey, with nearby underground stations at Westminster and St.James Park, regular bus routes and ample free Sunday car parking on the adjacent streets and in local council car parks in Great College Street and Arneway Street.
