Three UK jazz legends unite for this special tribute to the undoubted master of the modern jazz piano trio, Bill Evans
Evans was one of the most iconic groundbreaking pianists of the last century who pushed the boundaries of jazz piano playing to new levels. His intimate sound, combined with his advanced harmonic and rhythmic capabilities are still influencing musicians today.
This intimate evening in the company of true jazz greats with personal memories and anecdotes will feature originals as well as Evans music that has now entered the jazz canon.
Norma Winstone – one of our greatest British jazz singers, pioneered the approach to wordless vocals in jazz, as well creating countless word-settings with Kenny Wheeler, Ralph Towner and John Taylor.
Stan Sulzmann’s highly personal, haunting but forward-looking style has won him many admirers and colleagues, including Gil Evans, Michael Brecker and Mike Gibbs.
Nikki Iles’ 25 years experience playing, composing and teaching have made her one of the finest modern jazz pianists in Europe and voted Best Pianist in the 2018 British Jazz Awards. Her fluent and creative playing has been heard with the finest UK musicians, including Kenny Wheeler and Tina May.
