Alan Barnes is the most highly awarded Saxophone master in the History of British Jazz, with a storming and inventive musical style, all presented with self-effacing humour.
He arrives for his debut at Piano Smithfield with his all star quartet to play an evening of great swinging music, on a selection of clarinet, alto and baritone saxophones. Not only a most talented instrumentalist, Alan is also a notable composer and arranger.
His duo performances with ace pianist David Newton have become legendary. His joint presentations with trombonist Mark Nightingale have delighted sold out audiences and his major compositional suites for his Octet, covering the stories of Dickens “Christmas Carol”, Conan-Doyle’s“ Sherlock Holmes” and most recently Dickens “Copperfield” delighted audience across the UK
