Alec Dankworth's Spanish Accents

Pizza Express Jazz Club, Dean Street, Soho, London

Inspiring music from six great musicians and spectacular Flamenco dancing

The warmth, spirit, fragrances and above all the sounds and music of Adalucia are transported, for this compelling Sunday party winters night, to Dean Street

Alec Dankworth, winner of best double Bass in the British Jazz Awards, has enjoyed a  long-standing love of all things Spanish and provides the inspiration for this group.

De Lucia, Gillespie, even Santana are reinvented alongside traditional folk songs and originals in flamenco rhythms creating a wonderful and genuinely Spanish world.

The band features the beautiful voice of daughter Emily Dankworth and the flamenco dancing and palmas of Jesus Olmedo, along with heady mix of top British musicians. – saxophonist Mark Lockheart, Chris Garrick’s gorgeous violin, and Alec Dankworth’s bass interweaving with  the genuinely Spanish drumwork of Demi Garcia  and guitar of Chris Allard make this an unusual line-up.

Heres a flavour of the wonderful music we have in store for you
