Claire Martin Returns to Piano Smithfield and invites you to join her and her outstanding trio for this, the first London Concert performance of her new show “Remembering Richard”
Those who were privileged to get tickets to experience our Greatest British Jazz Singer, Claire Martin’s Debut Piano Smithfield concert in Autumn 2022 will appreciate her concluding remarks that:-
“Piano Smithfield is my favourite London jazz venue”
Not only was Claire in raptures about the venue, the audience were on their feet engaged in her delightful, sensitive, poignant, but also brilliant swinging style. The audience has demanded her return and we are delighted to comply with Claire’s return request.
And what an evening everyone has in store this February.
Claire, our most Multi-awarded winning jazz vocalist and BBC broadcaster, with this first London 2023 concert opportunity, celebrates the music of her much missed musical partner the late Sir Richard Rodney Bennett with a programme comprising many of his original songs and those of his favourite songwriters, together with Claire performing solo songs they together sang as duets
Performing material from the forthcoming album dedicated to Richard entitled ‘I Watch You Sleep’ recorded with American conductor/arranger Scott Dunn and the RPO, the evening will include songs written by Vernon Duke, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mandel and of course Richard himself.
Accompanied by three of the UK’s most in demand jazz musicians, and already well established regulars for jazz evenings at Piano Smithfield: the sensitive accompanist Rob Barron - piano, Jeremy Brown - double bass and Mark Taylor - drums this concert will be a must get to evening to enjoy this heartfelt musical homage, from our most awarded jazz singer, to a giant of music.
