– 125 Years of Jazz Piano
Concert 7pm

The Crazy Coqs, Sherwood Street, Soho, London

James Pearson is a pianist, composer, creative tour de force and Artistic Director at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club where his trio are the house band. Their last album ‘Swing the Club’ recorded live at the venue received excellent reviews across the board.

His work covers all genres of music, especially contemporary music, jazz and classical.

Performances for JBGB Events include a stunning evening in our 2 pianos, 6 pianists series and recent shows with singers Polly Gibbons and Tina May

James has broadcast on all the major radio and television networks. Classic F.M broadcast his concert of Rachmaninoff’s 2nd piano concerto, and BBC Radio 2 broadcast his performance of the Gershwin Piano Concerto and Rhapsody in Blue. His work as a Jazz musician has taken him all over the world. This year The James Pearson Trio played a four night run in Birdland Jazz Club in New York. His piano playing and arrangements can be heard on over 50 albums.

Tonight’s concerts are unique events for London. Over each 80 minute performance James explores, with a deep sense of knowledge and history, the stories behind the evolution of jazz piano music from Ragtime to Stride; from Boogie Woogie to Big Band; from Be-Bop to Modal and much more.

And of course James will play all these styles capturing the essence of Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller, Art Tatum, George Shearing, Errol Garner, Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson and more.

Audiences are in for a stunning evening, not only wonderful music from an outstanding pianist but also coupled with insight and understanding designed to guarantee complete entertainment

To give a flavour of what to expect here’s James at Ronnie Scott’s with stories and music of the great Oscar Peterson.
