In the post pandemic situation we managed to squeeze in just the one 2021 concert by the Gareth Lockrane Big Band. So we set about rectifying the situation with a three concert residency across 2022, with sensational all sold-out concerts, enjoyed by the musicians and enthusiastic audiences
So it’s no surprise we are responding to our customers demand, with this further Three 2023 concerts at Pizza Express Jazz Club, by this sensational 19-piece British Big Band, led by the original writing and arranging of the brilliant jazz flautist Gareth Lockrane.
Mention Big Band Jazz and memories flood with the great American sounds of Basie, Ellington, Dorsey, Evans, Jones & Marsalis. Add to that list the name Lockrane. It’s one of the world’s most outstanding bands & comes from this side of the pond.

The band will play not only the music from their album, “Fistfight At The Barndance”, rated a top five jazz album of the year in the British Jazz Awards, and short listed as Best jazz album in the Parliamentary Jazz Awards, but also new compositions and arrangements, in preparation for their much anticipated new album, by what has been called

Gareth’s Band features a combination of established British jazz greats with Academy trained younger musicians, in multi layered arrangements scored for 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 reeds, guitar, piano, bass, percussion and drums in addition to Gareth on the entire flute family.
