Two of our greatest female jazz singers; Claire Martin & Liane Carroll, come together again, after too long just doing their own things, for this reunited concert - their first in many years, at this unique lunchtime event, in our “Weekend Starts Here” series.
Already multi award winning music makers, gracing the great jazz venues internationally and being significant recording artists with top selling albums, JBGB Events brought Claire & Liane together, several years ago to make outstanding music in their “Two’s Company” show, at large venues in London for the EFG London Jazz Festival and elsewhere.
Sold out successful concerts and audiences demanding more, suggested we should continue. However, the difficulties of organising evening concerts together for these two talented and in demand individuals, alongside finding the matched time necessary to build and rehearse unique duo programmes, made it hard to continue.
But we persevered. Our new “Weekend Starts Here” series at PizzaExpress Live at Dean Street on Thursday Lunchtimes, with 80 minutes of uninterrupted music from 1pm, offered the opportunity to reunite Claire & Liane and fitting in this concert, without interrupting their solo musical endeavours.
Claire Martin is an established tour de force on the UK jazz scene gaining many awards, including winning the British Jazz Awards eight times along the way.
She has released 18 must have CD’s and performed all over the world with her trio and, worked extensively with the late Sir Richard Rodney Bennett in an intimate cabaret duo setting in England and USA.
Claire has toured extensively across Europe; opened the London Jazz Festival; sang twice in the Jazz Divas series; sold out Ronnie Scots with wide acclaim and has performed “Just the Two of Us” concerts with Joe Stilgoe at St James Theatre and Pizza Express Jazz Club on Dean Street plus her Three’s Company show with Iain Mackenzie and David Newton and duo performances with Ian Shaw.

Singer – Pianist Liane Carroll, is one of our outstanding British jazz greats. Liane’s first four albums all enjoyed four-starred reviews, and, “Ballads” received ***** from Jazz Journal. "Seaside", won CD of the year at the British Jazz awards
A winner of the British Jazz and Parliamentary Jazz Awards she received the Gold award from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
She is a regular performer in the great jazz music venues, including not only staring in our Jazz Divas series, but also opening the series at The Pheasantry on the King’s Road; with Claire Martin in their Two’s Company concert at St John’s Smith Square in the EFG London Jazz Festivals; sold-out performances at The Crazy Coqs and in summer festival performances across the country.
