Effra Album
– Misha Mullov-Abbado

PizzaExpress Jazz Club, Dean Street, Soho, London

Misha Mullov- Abbado returns to Dean Street with his group, after two much appreciated concerts here in 2022 and 2024, for the first London performance of his fourth and highly rated album “Effra”.

Award-winning, London-based jazz bass player, composer, and arranger Misha Mullov-Abbado, combines great imagination with raw talent and a clear vision. A BBC New Generation Artist and with three critically acclaimed albums, his latest, Effra, highlights his ‘melodic gift’ (John Fordham, The Guardian) and ability to blend beautifully crafted compositions with free-spirited improvisation.

“Effra” is a word associated with Misha’s home in London’s Brixton area. Originally the name of an underground river and more recently a main road name with two rival pubs, the album is a collection of Misha’s music over recent years and captures his personal journey in South London and his love for playing jazz.

The Group includes some of the finest multi award winning musicians in London, having performed Misha’s original compositions and arrangements at many prestigious jazz and classical venues, plus festivals not only in the U.K., but also across Europe.

The repertoire covers a broad spectrum of classical, jazz and pop music as well as folk traditions from around the world.

Here is a flavour of what’s in store from the Effra album, with the group in full voice performing “Subsonic Glow”

Misha leads a muscular and inventive horn-rich sextet in his eight-track album celebration of Brixton’s cultural melting pot and his life there”-
