Elaine Delmar’s Musical Bottom Drawer

Saturday April 12

Elaine Delmar’s
Musical Bottom Drawer

At Crazy Coqs, Brasserie Zedel, Sherwood Street, Soho, London

Elaine Delmar, one of Britain’s greatest and most evergreen performers of great jazz music on the international stage, returns, at the request of Crazy Coqs management, for a further concert of some of her enormous repertoire of songs from the 20th century music books.

She continues to be the most outstanding jazz singer- with the voice, looks and personality that have captivated world-wide audiences.

For this early Saturday afternoon at Crazy Coqs, Elaine has again opened up her musical Bottom Drawer, bringing out not only well known and regularly requested musical gems, but also some often overlooked and forgotten masterpieces that will delight and surprise even the most experienced, well travelled audience.

Elaine’s Bottom Drawer contains a wonderful selection of melodies and words - both fun filled and reflective emotions, from the pens of musical greats, including George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jimmy Van Heusen, Richard Rodgers, Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin and so many more.

Elaine is equally at home, whether entertaining a concert audience, or performing in the more intimate cabaret/small theatre settings.

Her American Song Book presentations sold out not only here at The Crazy Coqs, but also at London’s Piano Smithfield and The Pheasantry in Chelsea and in spectacular big band performances not only at Pizza Express Live Holborn, for the 2022 London Jazz Festival, but also at Pizza Express Jazz Club in 2023.

This concert captures all the emotion and sheer pleasure of the most wonderful songs from a wonderful artist, awarded best vocalist in the 2013 Parliamentary Jazz Awards and again, most recently in 2023.

Elaine’s most recent album “Speak Low”, recorded with this concert’s musicians, has enjoyed much critical acclaim.

For this concert, Elaine is accompanied at the piano by the lyrical swing of Barry Green and on double bass by British Jazz Awards Winner Simon Thorpe.

“Elaine makes the art of swinging a tune seem effortless…

(her) glowing, cello-like phrases…are as seductive as ever.”

- Clive Davis
