In keeping with our regular series of Weekend Big Band concerts, we welcome this 2024 Christmas return for Geoff Gascoyne and his All Star 18-piece Big Band; this year with special guest Joe Stilgoe, for two Saturday lunch and evening concerts, playing music from both Geoff and Joe’s extensive big band libraries.
Geoff Gascoyne, returning to Dean Street after sold out Christmas concerts in 2022 & 2023, is one of the UK’s most outstanding jazz writers, music arranger, music producer, big band leader and double bass players.
Joe Stilgoe is a phenomenal performer of wit, style and a level of musicianship that sees him recognised as one of the best singer-pianists in the world, with 5 albums topping the U.K. Jazz charts and established as a great jazz pianist, band leader, song writer and all-round entertainer on the international stage.
Expect a festive mix of traditional and newly composed Christmas music with new hip arrangements and surprises.
Geoff has been a professional musician for over 30 years. He has worked with such diverse artists as Michel Legrand, Van Morrison, Georgie Fame, Sir Willard White, Sting, Charlie Watts, Benny Golson, Jacqui Dankworth, Dianne Reeves, Claire Martin and Eartha Kitt
He played a major part in the rise of Jamie Cullum with whom he worked exclusively from 2000 to 2007.
Geoff has appeared on over 100 recordings and has toured the world many times. He has recorded 10 CDs as a band leader and has arranged and composed music for countless others.
Geoff is Professor of jazz bass at the Guildhall School of Music.

Joe, is one of our most internationally acclaimed true modern-day entertainers, always searching for a new way of bringing not only his own songs, but also those he loves from the past to a new audience. His heroes include Danny Kaye, Nat King Cole and Dudley Moore and among his major influencers are Harry Connick Jr., The Beach Boys and Oscar Peterson.
Joe has created award-winning theatre shows, hosts and stars many times on BBC2’s “Friday Night Is Music Night” and is a regular guest and presenter on JazzFM. He has hosted sold-out shows at Ronnie Scotts and the Barbican Theatre and his series of “Two’s Company” with Claire Martin have held audiences spellbound.
His most recent album “Theatre” with its predecessor “Stilgoe In The Shed” are recognised as landmark recordings.
On stage, Joe’s performance in High Society at the Old Vic; in Guys & Dolls at the Royal Albert Hall and at the Olivier Awards at the Royal Opera House are stand out moments among a wealth of memories.
