Jazz Divas 2025
You can’t keep a great musician down. It’s a further return to Crazy Coqs by singer – pianist Liane Carroll – Solo, one of our outstanding British jazz greats and perhaps the most appreciated and in-demand musician appearing for our discerning regulars.
Long since her recovery from the dreaded Covid pandemic, which forced the cancellation of her Autumn 2022 concert which led to her triumphant recovery and a series of sold out concerts in 2023-2024, Liane returns for this Autumn concert in our Jazz Divas 2025 series, with another “dose” of her personal antidote to sadness and despondency.
She is delighted we’ve invited her to return again for what she describes as, “A wonderful venue and such a great audience. I had a ball. I loved it”
Music commentators are unanimous in their praise.
“One of the most stylistically flexible pianists around, with a marvellous, slightly husky singing voice" (The Observer).
"A powerful, soul-inflected performer with an Ella Fitzgerald-like improv athleticism and an emotional frankness on ballads" (The Guardian)
Liane’s first four albums all enjoyed four-starred reviews, and, “Ballads” received ***** from Jazz Journal. "Seaside", won CD of the year at the 2015 British Jazz awards.
A winner of the British Jazz and Parliamentary Jazz Awards she received the 2016 Gold award from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
She is a regular performer in the great jazz music venues, including not only staring in our previous Jazz Divas series, but also staging her Christmas party show last year at The Pheasantry on the King’s Road; with Claire Martin in their Two’s Company concert at St John’s Smith Square in the EFG London Jazz Festivals; sold-out performances at The Crazy Coqs and in summer festival performances across the country.
And to give you a big flavour of what’s in store, here is Liane, with her trio on this occasion, performing two great swinging, infectious numbers by the American writer, Donald Fagen.
Don’t delay in booking your tickets. You are guaranteed a great evening at Crazy Coqs. Join us for another uplifting solo concert by the wonder that is Liane Carroll.
