Chris Ingham’s Jazz At The Movies featuring Joanna Eden
Pizza Express Jazz Club, Dean Street, Soho, London
After sell out performances across the country, Chris Ingham’s group Jazz At The Movies
return to Dean Street, for a fun filled lunchtime tour through some of the film world’s most swinging and romantic music.
JAZZ AT THE MOVIES is a unique jazz group formed to interpret movie themes and soundtrack songs taken from a wide-range of silver screen sources both familiar and obscure.
With writings from Bacharach, Barry, Bricuse, Carmichael, Mancini , Gershwin, Sondheim and so many more; with jazz standards including “The Man That Got Away”, “Close Enough For Love”, “Speak Low”, “On Green Dolphin Street” and even “Pink Panther”, audiences are spell bound by the combination of joyous film memories and inspiring music.
With a reputation for vibrant music, deep repertoire and droll presentation, JATM have become a regular sell-out not only at Dean Street, but also at Ronnie Scott’s, the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room and many jazz clubs, theatres and arts centres throughout the UK.
JATM features evocative vocals by acclaimed singer Joanna Eden, bewitching saxophone, and clarinet from star reeds-man of the John Wilson Orchestra Mark Crooks and atmospheric textures and grooves from
Chris Ingham– piano,
Joe Pettitt – double bass and
George Double – drums
Here’s a video taste of what’s in store with Joanna giving delightful voice to “Meglio Stasera”
And a swinging number from their recent recording, with Joanna in fine voice and
Mark adding saxophone flavours with “The Man that Got Away”
“Great songs, great films, great band, great singer...one of the finest vocal albums I've heard for quite a while” — BEBOP SPOKEN HERE
“Eden’s honeyed vocals…great diction and innate jazz timing, ringing out clear as a bell”-
