A 20th Century Songbook
– with Joanna Eden
& Chris Ingham
Chelsea Lunches at The Pheasantry, across October & November, is a new series of concerts, from JBGB Events, featuring top class musicians for relaxed, engaging and entertaining 80-minute Sunday concerts on the Kings Road, for you; with your partner, your friends and families.
For this, our first concert, we welcome vocalist Joanna Eden with pianist/ singer Chris Ingham for an afternoon of classics and curiosities from the 20th century that produced a treasure of rich and evocative popular music.
“Natural warmth and intensity" LONDON JAZZ NEWS.
Taking in standards by Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael and Cole Porter along with beautiful 1960s and 1970s songs by Carole King, Burt Bacharach, Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Jeff Lynne, among many others, Jo and Chris intersperse the music with anecdote and insight.
Joanna Eden is an acclaimed songwriter and singer known for her “sophisticated, stylish vocals” (Jazz Journal) and who was teacher and mentor to Sam Smith for nine years
(Sam Smith: “She is the reason I sing”).
She has appeared at the UK’s top venues with her salutes to both Ella Fitzgerald and Joni Mitchell and also with the group Jazz at the Movies.
Chris Ingham has released four admired CDs celebrating the music of Hoagy Carmichael, Dudley Moore and Stan Getz.
He has been rated as
“up there with the cream of the UK’s pianists” (Jazz Journal) and "one of Britain's best singer-pianists" (Evening Standard).
Sit back and relax in the stylish and elegant company of Joanna and Chris; two of our very best music makers.
