Chelsea Lunches
at The Pheasantry
Sunday November 10
Judy Garland & Liza Minnelli
– with the Gascoyne Family
Chelsea Lunches at The Pheasantry, across October & November, is a new series of concerts, from JBGB Events, featuring top class musicians for relaxed, engaging and entertaining 80-minute Sunday concerts on the Kings Road, for you, with your partner, your friends and families.
For this, the fourth in our Chelsea Lunches series, we welcome the Gascoyne family, for a real musical feast, performing the music of Judy Garland and her daughter Liza Minelli, with singers' mother, Trudy Kerr and daughter Ruby Gascoyne, plus instrumentals from Dad, Geoff Gascoyne and son Louis.
Judy Garland and her daughter Liza Minnelli created not only amazing and memorable solo performances, but also some of the most magical double act evenings across the world and especially at The London Palladium.
Judy Garland achieved international stardom as an actress in both musical and dramatic roles, as a recording artist and on the concert stage. The films “A Star Is Born” and “The Wizard of Oz” and the song “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” are forever her properties.
Her daughter Liza Minnelli, not only a great actress and singer, but also dancer, created her own anthems including “New York, New York” and “Maybe This Time” plus her Oscar winning triumph in “Cabaret”.
Trudy Kerr, following her earlier evenings showcasing the music of Doris Day and Judy Garland, is joined by her daughter Ruby Gascoyne to create, in their own individual styles, some of the musical magic that comes only from close family performances.
Trudy Kerr is renowned as one of the UK's finest jazz vocalists. Mojo Magazine says of her singing "Trudy Kerr is the genuine article - She is a Joy!"
All About Jazz has described her as "100% real jazz musician with fluid phrasing and a mellifluous, warm and sensuous tone."
She has released twelve albums, and collaborated both live and in the studio with a legion of world class musicians.
Ruby Gascoyne, Trudy’s daughter, studied Musical Theatre at the BRIT School of Performing Arts and Technology and is currently studying a Foundation at ALRA drama school.
Following last years professional debut at Crazy Coqs she was immediately invited to sing with the Darius Brubeck Quartet and shared the stage in the EFG London Jazz Festival with solos and duets alongside the irrepressible Liane Carroll.
Accompanying Trudy and Ruby is the established music legend, big bad arranger, writer, bassist for Jamie Callum and pianist Geoff Gascoyne, and bass playing student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Louis Gascoyne.
